 *SURV DR. FITKA STEVE BILSHAKKA MESSAGE TO THE PEOPLE OF PLATEAU STATE ON THE OCCASION OF THE DEMOCRACY DAY CELEBRATION.*

PROTOCOL

Today, marks another memorable beginning in our Democratic Governance as a State and the Nation in general. We thank Almighty Lord that we are witnesses to the resuscitation of the June 12 Democracy ideals that had been in limbo for over 21 years. I congratulate all Citizens for this auspicious day and occasion.

Many had made sacrifices both in lives and properties to ensure that we embrace democracy and enjoy its dividends. To these heroes, we pay glowing tributes and may their labour and sacrifices never be in vain, but to serve as a debt of honour on us to serve in humility and duty of care to the people.

Democracy is being entrenched, given the great mark of nearly two decades of uninterrupted democratic rule and its enduring legacy., with the support and cooperation of the well-meaning people of our dear State we have been navigating slowly with heavy steps, but on the right path, given the very challenging and tortuous journey, in view of lean resources in the face of increasingly competing demands. We did not, however, allow such experience or frustration to deter us from doing the needful by embarking on series of revolutionary changes to give the State and its Citizenry a new life.

I sincerely thanks Members of the State elders, coordinators my Media teams and all the citizens of Plateau State for the constant support and sacrifices in other to witness the Herald of New Plateau 2023.

My decision particularly to dedicate the theme of this year’s Democracy Day Speech to issues bordering on Integrity, and Transparency in Leadership stems from the desire to further entrench these as a standard in responsive and people-oriented. Dr Fitka Steve said my fellow Citizens of Plateau State, I use this special medium of democracy day to solemn a pledge to serve the braves citizens of Plateau State with all my straight capacity and patriotic zeal.

*Dr Fitka Steve Bilshakka wishes to place a record with strong proposal to the sustenance of welfare, peace and security of the average Plateau citizens, in the discharge of his mandate.*

I appeal that Citizens of Plateau State should continuously inculcate the virtues of being brothers’ keepers, remain vigilant and cooperate with the security agents and traditional leaders in their domains. 

The youths who are leaders of tomorrow to re-awaken their consciences and refuse to be used as agents of destruction and mayhem. The future, understandably, belongs to the youths, and they, as leaders of tomorrow, should not take part in destroying the legacies that destiny shall one day call upon them to protect. This is even as the Rescue.

*Finally, as I wish you all a happy Democracy Day.*

As leaders, we shall always strive as to be role models of being in the world with you and not over or against the people. This is our solemn commitment.

MAY GOD, IN HIS INFINITE MERCY, CONTINUE TO grant us more wisdom in implementing the template just unveiled, which will further redefine our development for the common good.
